WHAT: Texas Appleseed will host a webinar to discuss how House Bill 6 — a harmful school discipline law that went into effect earlier this year for K-12 schools — impacts students and parents/guardians in Texas. Presentations will focus on changes to in-school and out-of-school suspensions, disciplinary alternative education programs, vaping, and more. For ages 17+.
WHO: The event will feature lawyers, educators, and organizers to discuss key aspects of the new law.
- Andrew Hairston, J.D., Director, Education Justice Project, Texas Appleseed
- Samantha Greenleaf, Austin-area Assistant Principal
- Adrian Fonseca, Dallas-area Educator
- Shareefah Mason, Director of Education, For Oak Cliff
WHEN: Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 6 p.m. CDT
WHERE: This is a virtual event hosted on Zoom. Register to receive the link here.
WHY: By understanding their rights under House Bill 6, parents/guardians and students can feel better equipped to navigate the new school discipline landscape and advocate for themselves at school.
