Criminal Justice

At Texas Appleseed, we believe that justice should not hinge on one’s background or wealth. We believe incarceration and monitoring should be last resorts, and that the legal system should not be used as a tool to inflict long-term negative consequences on people’s lives, such as not having the ability to access housing, employment, and education. To this end, we support policies and practices that are data-driven, aligned with best practices, and written and implemented in a manner that promotes opportunity and accountability for all Texans.
