First Round of Scholarship Applications Due February 23

AUSTIN, Texas—Texas Appleseed, a justice-driven nonprofit, is accepting scholarship applications for its Diversity Legal Scholars program, which aims to diversify Texas law schools and the legal profession. The program helps low-income students of color expand their law school options through a scholarship that covers the full cost of a Kaplan (LSAT) preparation course. The scholarship is available three times per year. Key application dates are below.

  • Round 1: The deadline is February 23, 2024 for students taking the LSAT in May through August 2024.
  • Round 2: The deadline is May 16, 2024 for students taking the LSAT in September through December 2024.
  • Round 3: The deadline is September 13, 2024 for students taking the LSAT in January through April 2025.

Scholarship recipients must be Texas residents of color, take the LSAT on one of the designated dates that corresponds to their application round, and apply to be admitted into law school before or during the Fall 2025 semester. Applications will be evaluated on academic achievements, academic or professional recommendation, economic need, work experience, community service, and strength of essay.

More details can be found at www.texasappleseed.org/diversity-legal-scholars. Texas Appleseed has awarded hundreds of scholarships since the program’s inception in 1997.
